Gatwick is a large airport with two terminals, located a mile apart from each other. This guide will show you how to change terminals and connect between flights.
Changing Terminals (Landside)
Changing between the North and South terminals at Gatwick is very easy, due to the free automated shuttle train that runs every few minutes, 24 hours a day.
You’ll need to take the terminal transfer shuttle train if your flight arrives/departs from the North Terminal and you want to use the train station in the South Terminal, located next to where the transfer train departs from.
All you need to do is follow signs for the terminal you want to go to. For example when arriving into the North Terminal, follow signs for the ‘Train Station & South Terminal’. These will lead you to the shuttle train.

Each shuttle train station has two platforms. Screens and announcements let you know which platform the next train will be departing from. The trains come every 2-5 minutes and take 3 minutes. You can wheel your luggage onto the shuttle train, including baggage trolleys. The train runs between the two other terminals only – there are no other stops.

Connecting Flights at Gatwick
There is no airside transfers / flight connections facility at Gatwick. Therefore if you are transferring between two connecting flights, you will need to follow sings to arrivals, pass through immigration (passport control), and pick up bags (if not checked through). Then you can take the shuttle train to transfer terminals if necessary, check in any bags, and pass through security again.
